You can work here if your short\u2010term employment is registered by your employer and your stay here is legal (e.g. you have a D-visa) or when you have a valid (temporary) residence permit for working.<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1070 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/sergienkolawyers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/shu-Estonia-Tallinn-Old-Town-and-seaport-harbour-312025430-1440x823-1-300x171.jpg\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"171\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><b>A long-stay (D) visa is an Estonian visa\u00a0<\/b>which may be issued for single or multiple entries into Estonia.<\/p>\n<p>D-visa may be issued for the period of stay of\u00a0<strong>up to 365 days within twelve consecutive months<\/strong>\u00a0and it allows to stay in the whole Schengen Area up to 90 days.\u00a0<strong>In case of two consecutive long-stay visas, the whole period of stay shall not be longer than 548 days within 730 consecutive days.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>A long-stay visa must be applied for in person at an\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Estonian representation which handles visa applications<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>or at a\u00a0<strong>service point of the Police and Border Guard Board in Estonia.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3 data-lineheight=\"36\" data-fontsize=\"24\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-875 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/sergienkolawyers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Tallin-Square-Estonia-1030x580-300x169.jpg\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" \/><\/h3>\n<h3 data-lineheight=\"36\" data-fontsize=\"24\">EU<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>If you are a citizen of the EU, the EEA (Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway), or Switzerland, you can enter Estonia without a visa.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>If you want to work in Estonia for more than 3 months, you just need to\u00a0<b>r<\/b><b>egister as an Estonian resident in the Population Register of Estonia<\/b>\u00a0during the first 3 months of your stay.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 data-lineheight=\"36\" data-fontsize=\"24\">Non-EU<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>If you are a citizen of a non-EU country and would like to work in Estonia for a short time (up to 6 months in a year), you should apply for a D-visa. Before applying for a D-visa, your employer should register your short-term employment with the Estonian Police and Border Guard Board.<em>\u00a0<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>If you are a citizen of a non-EU country and want to work in Estonia for a longer time (longer than 6 months),\u00a0<b>you need to apply for a residence permit<\/b><i>.\u00a0<\/i>At first, you have to apply for a temporary residence permit (for work up to 2 years with your first permit). After having lived in Estonia for 5 years on a temporary residence permit, you can then apply for a long-term residence permit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you wish to settle in Estonia permanently, you can also apply for a\u00a0<b>temporary residence permit for settling permanently<\/b>\u00a0created to make settling and fulfilling the required criteria for a permanent residence permit easier.<\/p>\n<p>The work relationship in Estonia is usually based on an <strong>employment contract.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-872 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/sergienkolawyers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/country-profile-estonia-300x201.jpg\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"201\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>The probation period\u00a0<\/b>of an employee usually lasts 3-4 months and as a rule, your employment contract is concluded for an unspecified period. In order to enter into an employment contract for a fixed term, the employer must be able to demonstrate the temporary nature of the work (such as a short-term increase in workload or seasonal work).<\/p>\n<p><b>The salary<\/b>\u00a0is freely negotiable and is paid at least once a month to the employee\u2019s bank account. All wages are paid in the net amount. It is your employer\u2019s obligation to calculate and withhold all the necessary payroll taxes.<\/p>\n<p><b>The full-time workload<\/b>\u00a0is 40 hours per week, eight hours per day. An employer and an employee can agree on shorter working hours for part-time positions. Overtime work, work during the night, and public holidays are to be paid at a higher rate.<\/p>\n<p>Special conditions apply to pregnant or nursing women, and to parents of small children.<\/p>\n<p>And the best thing?
